All About The Law of Attraction

The Law of Attraction is a philosophy suggesting that positive thoughts bring positive results into a person’s life, while negative thoughts bring negative outcomes. It’s based on the belief that thoughts are a form of energy and that positive energy attracts success in all areas of life, including health, finances, and relationships. The Law of Attraction is primarily rooted in the universal Law of Vibration, which posits that everything is in constant motion, vibrating at a specific frequency. While aspects of the Law of Attraction have been around for millennia, Abraham-Hicks has started a modern Law of Attraction wave known as The Teachings of Abraham that has inspired books, films, essays, and lectures.

A Deeper Look at the Law of Vibration

The Law of Vibration states that everything in the universe is in a constant state of movement. We refer to these movements as vibrations, and the speed or rate at which something vibrates is called its frequency.

The only difference between one object and another is the rate of its vibration. Even solid objects that we perceive as “static,” such as cement, are vibrating at a slow speed. Your body, on the other hand, vibrates at an extremely high rate.

Our thoughts, like everything else in the universe, are energy, and they vibrate at different frequencies depending on the nature of the thought. You have the power to dictate the frequency of your being by choosing and directing your thoughts. Your emotional state dictates the vibration that your body is in. And, to a large extent, these vibrations dictate how you experience life because they set up resonance with anything that is on the same frequency.

A Deeper Look at the Law of Attraction

The Law of Attraction focuses on using your thoughts and feelings to dictate what you attract into your life. Attraction is a force acting mutually between particles of matter, tending to draw them together and resisting their separation.

The Law of Attraction has gotten plenty of attention over the past 15 years because of The Secret, which is a movie inspired by The Teachings of Abraham. However, you can’t apply this law without also understanding the Law of Vibration, since the two are so intimately connected. Essentially, the Law of Vibration is the primary law, and the Law of Attraction is the secondary law, because vibration is what causes attraction.

Everything in the universe is vibrating. Your thoughts, vibrating at a particular frequency, lead to your feelings, and it is the combination of the two that dictate your body’s vibration. Continuing the chain, your feelings dictate your body’s vibration, attracting people and things to you that are a vibrational match. Ultimately, it’s your vibration that dictates what you are drawing or manifesting into your life.

The Law of Attraction works by the totality of the vibration we send out, not merely by what we say we want.

The Law of Attraction Principles

The idea that we attract what we put out has been around since ancient times with many crediting Buddha as the first to introduce this notion to the world. Advocates suggest there are three central universal principles that make up the Law of Attraction:

  • Like Attracts Like: This principle suggests that similar things are attracted to one another. It means that people tend to attract people who are similar to them — but it also suggests that people’s thoughts tend to attract similar results. Negative thinking is believed to attract negative experiences, while positive thinking is believed to produce desirable experiences.
  • Nature Abhors a Vacuum: This principle of attraction suggests that removing negative things from your life can free up space for more positive things. It is based on the notion that it is impossible to have a completely empty space in your mind and life, so filling it with positivity is ideal.
  • The Present is Always Perfect: This principle focuses on the idea that there are always things you can do to improve the present moment. While it might seem like the present is somehow flawed, this principle proposes that, rather than feeling dread or unhappiness, you should focus your energy on finding ways to make the present moment the best it can be. That’s not to say you can’t acknowledge negativity or feel emotions related to it. Rather, it’s about doing what you can at the moment to improve any negative situation and letting the rest go.

The Teachings of Abraham

Esther and Jerry Hicks are the couple who introduced the world to Abraham. Esther describes Abraham as “a group of non-physical entities who present themselves as Abraham, and who speak through a process known as channeling.” When Esther first discovered Abraham, their teachings would be written down by Jerry with a process called “proprioceptive writing.”1

The Teachings of Abraham are based on the idea that your thoughts create what happens in the physical world. Additionally, they generate vibrations that interact with the universe, bringing good or bad to you depending on the vibrations you’re projecting. Esther often uses money as an example, stating, “If I visualize myself having seven dollars in my wallet, I will attract seven dollars into my wallet.”2

In a nutshell, the Teachings of Abraham are predominantly about forming an abundant mindset and changing the way you view the world. They also say that to apply the Laws of Attraction to your daily life, you have to begin with a clear vision of the person, thing, or situation that you want. Be clear and concise with yourself and you will attract what you desire.

A breakdown of the Teachings of Abraham are as follows:

  1. You are a physical extension of that which is non-physical.
  2. You are here in this body because you chose to be here.
  3. The basis of your life is freedom; the purpose of your life is joy.
  4. You are a creator; you create with your every thought.
  5. Anything that you can imagine is yours to be or do or have.
  6. As you are choosing your thoughts, your emotions are guiding you.
  7. The universe adores you for it and knows your broadest intentions.
  8. Relax into your natural well-being. All is well.
  9. You are a creator of thought ways on your unique path of joy.
  10. Actions to be taken and possessions to be exchanged are by-products of your focus on joy.
  11. You may appropriately depart your body without illness or pain.
  12. You cannot die; you are everlasting life.

How to Start Using the Law of Attraction

While it may sound too good to be true — and can take time to get the hang of — at its core, the Law of Attraction is about calling in what you want and aligning your actions and vibration with your desires. Once you do those things, the Law of Attraction will allow you to become the author of your life and attract a host of possibilities.

Here are a few ways you can incorporate the Law of Attraction into your life today:

  • Visualize: Visualization is a powerful tool for bringing an idea or desire into reality. You can mentally picture the future you seek or bring it into the physical realm by drawing it out. You can also create a vision board for your goals to keep you inspired and motivated.
  • Keep a Gratitude Journal: Given that like attracts like, intentionally focusing on the things you’re grateful for can invite more abundance into your life.
  • Speak It Into Existence: Another way to bring your desires out of your head and into physical reality is to voice them out loud. Try waking up and declaring out loud to the universe, ‘I would like X.”
  • Watch For Synchronicities: Synchronicities are those meaningful “coincidences” that seem slightly miraculous. If synchronicities related to your goal keep coming up, such as a lucky number, it’s probably a sign that you’re on the right track.
  • Reframe a Scarcity Mindset: When you’re seeking something you don’t yet have, it’s easy to get caught in a cycle of scarcity and lack. Focusing on your lack of love, lack of money, lack of happiness, etc., only reinforces that and does nothing to bring positivity. Remember to feel as if you’re already where you want to be. Let go of how you think things “should” go, and trust the universe to work its magic, remaining open to whatever the universe will provide.
  • Practice Acceptance: Instead of focusing on what’s wrong about the present or what needs to be changed, work on accepting things as they are. This doesn’t mean that you won’t continue to work toward a better future, it just means that you won’t get bogged down by wishing for things to be different right now.

Using The Law of Attraction For Specific Goals

If you want to change your life and begin using the Law of Attraction to make a difference, you should start by altering your thoughts. According to the Law of Attraction, when you cultivate a positive outlook that embraces the abundance and happiness you already have present around you, you’ll find your life filled with more positive people and experiences.

While the Law of Attraction may not be an immediate solution for all of life’s challenges, it can help you learn to cultivate a more optimistic outlook on life and stay motivated to continue working toward your goals.

After understanding the Law of Attraction and your vibration, you can begin to use it for specific goals in your life, including:

Love and Relationships

The first step in using the Law of Attraction to welcome more love into your life is to notice how you could be subconsciously resisting it. For example, if the universe keeps bringing you unavailable people, this could indicate something within you is still unavailable. Once you identify this block, you can work on breaking down your inner barriers and build up a more open approach to relationships and love. If you want to attract love into your life, be the love you want to attract.

Try being loving and generous towards others and yourself. Appreciate the love that you already have in your life and look for ways to express it. The more you create a vibration of love, the stronger the signal of love is that you’ll be sending out into the universe.

Career Goals

When working with the Law of Attraction in your professional life, it’s important to get specific about what you want. Try writing down your career goals using concrete statements like “I love working with like-minded people who support my ideas and creativity.” If you want that promotion, ask yourself, “What would the ‘promoted me’ do?” Explore and embrace what you would do with the changes given to you by the Law of Attraction.

Above all, remember to be thankful for everything that you already have and appreciate the abundance of all that’s good in your life. This will help you create a vibrational match for the financial needs that you want in your future.

Finances

Financial fears are sensitive and valid, and it takes a lot of unlearning to create a healthy relationship with financial abundance. With money, it’s especially easy to fall into a scarcity mindset, which can dull your vibration. Instead, focus on what you already have rather than what you lack.

Additionally, if you’d like to grow your wealth, spend more time thinking about money and abundance. Read books and watch videos on how to increase your prosperity and make more money. Envision the exact amount you would like and by when. Simply believe it will happen and think positively.
